Lucerne Proportion Regulates Competitive Uptake for Nitrogen and Phosphorus in Lucerne and Grass Mixtures on the Loess Plateau of China

چکیده
Mixtures of legume and grass are used worldwide to gain advantages in forage production ecological maintenance. However, competition for nutrients by legumes mixtures has not been fully explored. The aim was determine how the proportion affected nutrient mixtures. Treatments included two species combinations five sowing ratios. Competitive ratios (CR) lucerne nitrogen (N) phosphorus (P) over grasses were assessed analyze competition. Total N P uptake mostly lower under timothy-containing (MPs) than smooth bromegrass-containing (MBs). Proportions both (NM%) (PM%) higher MPs MBs. Higher total found half-lucerne (M5P5 or M5B5) other grasslands. NM% PM% tended be mixtures, although they showed little difference among Lucerne CR greater MBs, when There soil density grasslands same cut, whereas variable. Competitiveness depends largely on initial ratio. High significantly reduce density, leading limitation reduced uptake. On Loess Plateau China, mixing with bromegrass is recommended increase harvest P, specifically at ratio 5:5.

15 صفحه اولSeasonal Distribution of Dry Matter Production from Pure and Over- Drilled Lucerne and from Lucerne- Grass Mixtures ,4s Compared with Pasture on Pumice Country
Dry matter production data for pure lucerne, overdrilled lucerne and pasture ark presented for 14 sites on pumice soils. On average, the annual dry matter yield of lucerne, harvested at early basal shoot movement, was 50% higher than from pasture, ranging froti 128% higher on a drought-prone soil where the pasture was dominant browntop to 33% on a more moisture-retentive soil type where the pas...
متن کاملStoichiometric Characteristics of Carbon, Nitrogen, and Phosphorus in Leaves of Differently Aged Lucerne (Medicago sativa) Stands
Element concentration within a plant which is vital to function maintenance and adaptation to environment, may change with plant growth. However, how carbon (C), nitrogen (N), and phosphorus (P) vary stoichiometrically with stand growth, i.e., ages or cuts, was still untouched in perennial species. This study tested the hypothesis that lucerne (Medicago sativa) C:N, C:P, and N:P should change w...

The objectives of this study were to understand the rainfall characteristics of thewind-water erosion crisscross region on the northern Loess Plateau, China, to provide basisfor the studies on mitigation of soil erosion, estimation on surface water resources andlocal hydrological circle, etc. The Liudaogou Catchment with representative climatic andhydrologic conditions of wind-water erosion cri...
متن کاملChanges in Soil Carbon and Nitrogen following Land Abandonment of Farmland on the Loess Plateau, China
The revegetation of abandoned farmland significantly influences soil organic C (SOC) and total N (TN). However, the dynamics of both soil OC and N storage following the abandonment of farmland are not well understood. To learn more about soil C and N storages dynamics 30 years after the conversion of farmland to grassland, we measured SOC and TN content in paired grassland and farmland sites in...
